Hip Pain

Sometimes pain from other areas of the body, such as the back or groin (from a hernia), can radiate to your hip.

The main function of the hips is to keep our legs moving as well as to provide posture (they bear the weight of the body when we stand or sit). They act as the key joint in all lower body movements, with the multiple muscles surrounding them, making them susceptible to becoming tight, sore and injured.
The hip joints are weight-bearing which connect the thigh bone to the pelvic bone, and the joint surfaces are not considered a perfect match.

With injury, people often experience pain when they walk, run or exercise, and if the condition advances limping can result. This can cause pain in the surrounding joints. One thing to keep in mind is that hip pain can be the result of a problem in the back.
