Foot Pain

An abnormal walking pattern not only dramatically increases our risk of foot injury but also increases the force on our knee cartilage.

Your feet are the first point of contact with the ground. If the architecture of your feet is not in normal alignment, then with each step you take faulty movement patterns are created that often translate into a variety of conditions. This is where a small abnormality in foot function can also have larger impacts on your knees, hips and low back, causing pain and discomfort.

Due to the biomechanical problems discussed above, many medical conditions often result. The term over-pronation or just simply pronation are commonly used and are often referred to as fallen arches or flat feet. This can lead to foot aches and pains, such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and knee, hip or back pain. Plantar fasciitis (plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that supports the arch and foot) is associated with morning foot pain as you take your first steps of the day, or standing after a period of sitting.
